And when it comes to golf clubs, the Mizuno MP 68 is one of the best out there. In this extensive review, we will cover everything you need to know about this remarkable club, including its features, benefits, drawbacks, and more.
What is the Mizuno MP 68?
The Mizuno MP 68 is a forged golf club designed for experienced and professional players who demand the highest level of performance. It is known for its classic design, exceptional feel, and superior shot-making abilities. This club has been used by some of the top golfers in the world, including Luke Donald, who had it in his bag when he became World Number One in 2011.
Features of the Mizuno MP 68
The Mizuno MP 68 features a classic blade design made of grain flow forged 1025E pure select mild carbon steel. This material offers a superior level of stability, consistency, and shot feedback. The clubhead has a thin topline, narrow sole, and minimal offset that enhances control and precision. The weight distribution is optimized to deliver maximum feel and workability, while the sole grind allows for a variety of shot types.
The Mizuno MP 68 also has a modified U-groove technology that promotes spin and control, especially on partial shots and around the greens. The shaft is the True Temper Dynamic Gold, one of the most widely used and trusted shafts on Tour. It is available in a range of stiffness levels, from stiff to extra stiff, to match the needs of a wide range of golfers.
Benefits of the Mizuno MP 68
One of the main benefits of the Mizuno MP 68 is its exceptional feel and feedback. This club delivers a soft, yet solid sensation on impact, giving golfers an unparalleled level of control, especially on approach shots and around the greens. The weight distribution and sole grind also provide an excellent level of workability, allowing players to shape their shots as they desire.
Another benefit of the Mizuno MP 68 is its classic design that appeals to many golf traditionalists. The club has a timeless look that exudes elegance and simplicity, making it a favorite of golf purists. This club is also versatile, allowing players to use it for a range of shots, including low punch shots, high fades, and low draws.
Drawbacks of the Mizuno MP 68
One potential drawback of the Mizuno MP 68 is its lack of forgiveness. This club is designed for experienced and professional players who can consistently strike the ball in the sweet spot. If you’re a beginner or intermediate player, you may find this club too demanding and unforgiving.
Another potential drawback of the Mizuno MP 68 is its relatively high price tag. This club is not cheap and may not be affordable for every golfer. However, its exceptional performance and durability may justify the investment for serious players.
Conclusion
Overall, the Mizuno MP 68 is a remarkable golf club that provides exceptional feel, feedback, and shot-making abilities. It is a favorite of many professionals and traditionalists due to its classic design and superior performance. While it may not be the most forgiving club out there, it more than makes up for it with its exceptional level of control and workability. If you’re a serious golfer looking to take your game to the next level, then the Mizuno MP 68 is definitely worth considering.
